The buoy has greater capacity of withstanding any kind of abuses from floating debris and even boat traffic. The design of buoy somewhat resembles a common marker buoy which makes it sure that the attention of users who curiously access river will also not be withdrawn. To access the buoy, special kind of tool is required to access the inner compartment of the buoy which is not possible as its design is tamperproof. The buoy is in-built with rechargeable lead-acid batteries which can be recharged if the battery drains out completely. The batteries can be charged even on-board and the battery lasts for nearly a month and sometimes even more.
Some of the major applications of buoy are mostly found in monitoring of rivers and to capture sensors from lakes and stream because of its capability of floating in water and withstanding any harsh weather or sea conditions. It can be easily installed in water or in rivers with the help of anchors and fasten it to obtain the real-time data. Some of the benefits of using buoy are it is very cost-effective, it is a system which is wireless and is real-time transmission of data, and lastly, its extended usage or usage while being on long distances.
